George Macintosh, Q.C., who is the head of Farris’ litigation department, has been selected by Lexpert magazine as one of Canada’s top 25 commercial litigators.

Farris litigators have authored various articles, papers, and texts in the field of commercial litigation and arbitration, and have taught commercial-oriented courses for the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia, at the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Law, and in other contexts. Farris litigators Ludmila Herbst and Teresa Tomchak are contributors to an upcoming Continuing Legal Education Society text on business disputes, and Ms. Herbst is also on its editorial board.

  • Strother v. 3464920 Canada Inc., [2007] 2 S.C.R. 177, 2007 SCC 24 (defence of claim for breach of fiduciary duty and negligence against a solicitor).
  • Canadian Pacific Railway v. Vancouver (City), [2006] 1 S.C.R. 227, 2006 SCC 5 (litigation related to an official development plan).
  • Aurizon Mines Ltd. v. Northgate Minerals Corp. (2006), 57 B.C.L.R. (4th) 137, 2006 BCSC 1022, affirmed (2006), 55 B.C.L.R. (4th) 203, 2006 BCCA 340 (injunction against an attempted takeover bid).
  • Peel Financial Holdings Ltd. v. Western Delta Lands Partnership (various decisions as part of complex commercial litigation involving Burns Bog in Delta).
