Associate Victor Tsao is interviewed in the August 23 - 29 issue of Business in Vancouver on the issue of corruption and the impact on Canadian companies trading in emerging countries.
Victor, whose practice focuses on Asia-Pacific businesses, advises that company should take a top-down approach and name an authoritative person internally to take charge and be responsible for anti-corruption efforts. Victor recommended setting up compliance office within the company, define roles, prepare training materials and most importantly, conduct regular audits of the company’s records and practices. “[At the end of the day] it will cost you more if you bribe someone.” Victor added.
