Ludmila Herbst presents at Real Property Assessment and Taxation Conference

Farris partner Ludmila Herbst presented on the topic of “Exemptions” at the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia’s November 7, 2013 conference “Real Property Assessment and Taxation”.  Speaking on a panel with Nancy Peck, of BC Assessment, Ms. Herbst dealt specifically with the distinction between mandatory and permissive property tax exemptions, the procedural requirements that local governments must satisfy in order to invoke permissive exemptions, and possible means of challenging their non-invocation.  The conference was chaired by Cheryl Vickers, who is the Chair of the Property Assessment Appeal Board.
