Farris Welcomes Partner Jay Sujir and Associates Verlee Webb and Lyndsay Schooley

Farris, Vaughan, Wills & Murphy LLP is pleased to announce that Jay Sujir, formerly of Anfield Sujir Kennedy & Durno (ASKD Law), has joined the partnership as a senior member of the Securities and Mining Practice Groups.

Also joining the firm from ASKD Law are senior associates Verlee Webb and Lyndsay Schooley. Webb and Schooley also practice corporate and securities law with an emphasis on the natural resource sector.

“There is no city in the world that can come close to matching the success and entrepreneurial attitude of Vancouver and its mining exploration and development financiers, promoters and executives who have projects in every corner of the world”, said Sujir. “Times have been tough in the past few years for publicly listed mining companies, but the market seems to have found a bottom and the rebuilding process is underway”. Mr. Sujir further noted, “Farris’ entrepreneurial approach and commitment to service excellence is a natural fit for my clients. My team and I are excited to be able to not only continue, but to expand, our practice at Farris”.

“Sujir brings with him nearly 30 years of experience acting for mining and other resource companies, and we are delighted that he chose Farris”, notes Keith Mitchell, Q.C., the firm’s Chair.  “This move provides Sujir’s team and clients with the opportunity to leverage our nearly 100 lawyers in British Columbia, who collectively have the expertise necessary to service mining companies regardless of their size or stage of development, or the location of their projects”.  In addition, Mitchell noted, “we believe in the continuing vital role that mining and resource development is expected to play not only in British Columbia and Canada’s North, but across all of Canada from coast to coast.  The expansion of our long-established mining group at this time demonstrates our confidence that Vancouver will continue to be at the epicentre of mining exploration, development and finance in Canada and, indeed, worldwide”.

Farris is British Columbia’s preeminent full-service law firm for business and is recognised for the high calibre of its lawyers and commitment to client success.
