Congratulations to Tim Dickson, Eric Goodman, David Gruber, Stephanie Gutierrez, Kwang Lim, Brad Newby, Eli Walker, and Jason Yamashita who yesterday won the One-to-One Spelling Bee at the Vancouver Convention Centre.
Team Farris beat out two-time winners Davis LLP who had confidently issued a challenge to other law firms in The Advocate.
The competition, which is billed as a friendly sparring match between some of Vancouver’s most competitive brains and professions to raise money for literacy, raised at least $20,000 from the event.
In total, 160 people in 20 teams signed up including at least four B.C Court of Appeal justices who left after the third round to return to their courtrooms.
For more information on the One-to-One Literacy Society, which matches volunteers with over 600 Vancouver and North Vancouver elementary school children who need help with their reading skills, please check out their website at: www.one-to-one.ca.
