Farris represents Fort Chicago in its acquisition of $114.9 million of BC run-of-river hydro project

Farris, Vaughan, Wills & Murphy LLP is pleased to be acting as lead counsel on behalf of Fort Chicago Energy Partners L.P. (“Fort Chicago”), based in Calgary, Alberta, in its acquisition of a portfolio of British Columbia run-of-river hydroelectric facilities and development projects from ENMAX Corporation for an aggregate consideration of $114.9 million. The Farris lawyers representing Fort Chicago on the transaction, and assisting Fort Chicago General Counsel, Kevan King, include Al Hudec, David Selley and Denise Nawata.

The assets being acquired include 33 megawatts of power currently being generated by the Furry Creek and Clowhom hydroelectric facilities under long term power purchase agreements(“EPA’s”) with BC Hydro; and various development assets, including the Culliton Creek Project which was recently awarded an EPA by BC Hydro. Farris also acted as BC local counsel for Fort Chicago in its purchase of Swift Power Corp., which was recently awarded an EPA from BC Hydro for its Dasque Cluster hydroelectric project.

The transaction is expected to close in this calendar quarter.
