Farris Managing Partner, Kelowna, Dominic Petraroia appears in a Canadian Bar Association article, entitled “Small Firms and the Merger Dilemma,” by freelance writer Tim Perrin.
Dominic Petraroia discusses his experience of merging his nine-lawyer Kelowna-based firm, Petraroia Lanford LLP with a firm nearly ten times its size: Vancouver’s Farris, Vaughan, Wills & Murphy LLP. The merger, which came into effect on March 1, 2008, was something Petraroia Langford LLP “had been thinking about [...] since the mid-90s,” says Petraroia. “We started to carry on our practice in a way that would be attractive both to clients who were having work done in Vancouver, and to larger firms. At the same time, we didn’t know if a merger would arise at all.”
