David Emerson Receives 2009 Leadership Award for Contributions to BC Exporters

Farris Senior Advisor David Emerson will receive the 2009 BC Export Awards Leadership Award in recognition of his lifelong contributions to BC Exporters at the 2009 BC Export Awards Gala to be held on October 30 at the Hyatt Regency in Vancouver.

David Emerson has extensive experience in the public and private sectors. In the government sector, he has held a number of senior positions. At the federal level, they include Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Industry, Minister of International Trade and Minister for Pacific Gateway and Vancouver - Whistler Olympics. Mr. Emerson was also a leader in the B.C. government’s civil service through his roles as Deputy Minister of Finance, Deputy Minister to the Premier and President of the British Columbia Trade Development Corporation.

Prior to being elected as a federal MP for Vancouver, David Emerson was CEO of the Vancouver International Airport Authority, and served as president and CEO of Canfor. He has built on his executive experience through numerous corporate board positions with BC Transmission Corporation, Telus, Terasen Gas and BC Ferries, Finning International, the BC Progress Board, Canada West Foundation, the Forest Products Association of Canada and the Canadian Council of Chief Executives. He also chaired the Premier’s Economic Advisory Council and is a member of the International Advisory Council of the Chinese sovereign wealth fund China Investment Corporation.
