Breaking News - Farris Welcomes The Honourable Kenneth J. Smith to the Firm

NEWS RELEASE

VANCOUVER - The Partners of Farris, Vaughan, Wills & Murphy LLP are pleased to announce that the Honourable Kenneth J. Smith has joined the firm as Senior Counsel. After 20 years on the Bench, having first been appointed to the Supreme Court of British Columbia, Mr. Smith recently retired as a Justice of the Court of Appeal.

Prior to joining the Supreme Court in 1993, Mr. Smith had a distinguished career as counsel practicing in a wide variety of areas including commercial law, insolvency, mining law, medical negligence and other tort claims. He appeared as counsel in the Provincial Court of British Columbia, the Supreme Court of British Columbia, the British Columbia Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada.

Mr. Smith has been a lecturer for the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia and the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia. He also taught trial advocacy for several years as an Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia Law School.

The focus of Mr. Smith’s practice at Farris will be alternative dispute resolution, arbitration and mediation.  He will not appear in court but will provide advice to Farris clients and lawyers.
