Farris Lead Lawyers in $75 Million Acquisition of Tir Systems LTD.

Amsterdam, The Netherlands and Vancouver, Canada Royal Philips Electronics announced on June 8, 2007, that it completed its acquisition of Vancouver, Canada-based TIR Systems Ltd. (TSX: TIR), a leading company in Solid State Lighting (SSL) technology for products that generate high quality white light. Farris, representing TIR Systems Ltd., was led by Hector MacKay-Dunn, Q.C., and including: Solicitors (Corporate/Securities): Ron Murray, Trevor Scott, Peter Roth and Denise Nawata Litigators: Robert McDonell and Rebecca Morse Senior partner, Hector MacKay-Dunn, said today, “It has been a singular honour to have represented TIR over the past 2 decades. 20 years almost to the day. For the Farris mergers and acquisition team it has been a privilege to serve as TIR’s counsel. We extend our best wishes to the entire TIR team, and to their future success as they join their new colleagues at Philips.” TIR Systems Ltd. was acquired by way of statutory Plan of Arrangement by Royal Philips Electronics of the Netherlands in an all cash deal for approximately $75 million or EUR 48.5 million. The transaction was approved by the securityholders of TIR Systems Ltd. on May 10, 2007 and by the Supreme Court of British Columbia on May 14, 2007 and closed effective June 8, 2007.
