Maria practises business law with a particular emphasis on public private partnerships. Maria has provided legal advice in the following matters: advising the public sector on public private partnership transactions, advising the private sector on public private partnership transactions, including financings, advising on various secured and unsecured credit facilities and project financings for lenders and borrowers, advising on various mergers and acquisitions for private companies, advising on various commercial property purchase, sale and lease transactions, advising on various corporate reorganizations, and providing general corporate and commercial advice.
Maria joined Farris as an associate in 1995 and became a partner in 1999. Prior to joining the firm, Maria clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada for Madame Justice Beverley McLachlin from 1990 to 1991.
Maria has received a “high to very high” legal ability rating from Martindale-Hubbell, an authoritative and global source for identifying leading lawyers and law firms. She has also been named in the 2010 edition of Chambers Global as a Key Individual in the areas of Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and Infrastructure.
