Jay joined Farris as Chief Operating Officer in 1998, and is responsible for overseeing the strategic, financial, and business operations of the law firm. Prior to joining Farris, Jay worked for 13 years with two large Vancouver law firms in a similar capacity.

Jay obtained his C.A. designation from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of B.C. in 1979 while working in public practice with Coopers & Lybrand (now PriceWaterhouseCoopers). He serves as Chair of the Executive Directors Committee of Lex Mundi, after being Regional Vice-Chair, North America, since 2007. He has been a member of the Association of Legal Administrators and the B.C. Legal Management Association (BCLMA) since 1985, and served on the Executive Committee of BCLMA from 1991 to 1996, and as its President in 1993-1994.
