Those cases have included ones related to the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the division of legislative powers between federal and provincial governments, and the independence of the judiciary.
Farris lawyers regularly appear in the courts on issues related to freedom of expression and freedom of the press. They often act on behalf of the media to oppose publication bans and obtain access to the courts, and several belong to the Canadian Association of Media Lawyers. Farris litigators have intervened on behalf of the British Columbia Civil Liberties Association.
Farris lawyers have also argued a variety of other issues under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the Human Rights Code, including for the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
