Farris LLP: Vancouver's Law Firm

Energy

Our integrated team of Energy Law practitioners acts as key strategic counsel to producers, operators, marketers, service companies, and investor groups.  Our litigators also act on behalf of clients in the energy sector in various regulatory and court proceedings.

In addition to advising clients on commercial transactions related to the oil and gas industry, our lawyers’ expertise includes flow-through and project financings and income trust conversions of oil and gas businesses. We have experience negotiating joint venture arrangements, advising in resource development agreements for Aboriginal reserve and treaty lands, and settling export disputes.

We also act for utilities in a wide variety of regulatory and court proceedings, including before the British Columbia Utilities Commission.  Proceedings in which we have been involved have related to matters including rate design, revenue requirements, certificates of public convenience and necessity, long-term resource plans, capital expenditure plans, demand side management, smart meters, self-generation policies, net metering and customer complaints.  We have also acted for companies in the energy industry (run of river plants, wind farms) in relation to property assessment matters.

Lexpert has ranked Farris lawyers Mitch Gropper, Q.C., Elizabeth Harrison, Q.C., Ludmila Herbst, Q.C., Albert Hudec, Hector MacKay-Dunn, Q.C., Dean O’Leary and David Selley as leading energy lawyers in Canada.
